Tiffany R. Ellis
Partner

Tiffany is a dedicated and accomplished litigator against all sorts of corporate greed and institutional negligence. She has spent more than a decade representing individuals, survivors, and government entities.

She is an experienced advocate both in and outside of the courtroom.  In 2018 she was part of a two-person trial team that secured a more than $4 million verdict on behalf of a family who lost their husband and father in a trucking crash that could have been avoided.

Due in part to that verdict, Tiffany was recognized as the “most outstanding young trial lawyer in the country” by her peers when she was presented with the American Association for Justice 2018 F. Scott Baldwin Award.

Tiffany also represented survivors of disgraced gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar and was instrumental in securing recovery from Michigan State University for those individuals.

Since 2018 and still today, Tiffany has been part of the effort to hold corporate hotels accountable for sex trafficking that occurs in their brand properties under the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA).

Prior to joining the firm, Tiffany was intimately involved in the representation of 62 Michigan cities and counties in the national opioid litigation. She also served on the trial team that helped secure $350 million in settlements for the City of San Francisco from multiple drug manufacturers and distributors.  After an 11-week trial, Judge Charles R. Breyer concluded in a 2022 landmark opinion that “the aggregate evidence that Plaintiff presented at trial was not only adequate to establish Walgreen’s culpability — it was devastating.”  Walgreens settled the claims against it by the People of San Franscisco for $230 million.

Tiffany is also dedicated to both the legal and community at large.  Her work during the 2023 Michigan legislative session was instrumental to repeal the one-of-a-kind law, 1995 Michigan law that shielded drug manufacturers and sellers from liability when their FDA-approved drugs killed or injured Michiganders.

She is President-elect of the Detroit Bar Association for 2024-2025 and is an executive board member of the Michigan Association for Justice. Tiffany also serves on the boards of Covenant House of Michigan and Wayne County CASA.

Ms. Ellis holds a Masters in Law in Intellectual Property and Technology.  During law school Ms. Ellis worked for a federal judge, for an NGO in Ghana, West Africa, as a public defender in San Diego, and successfully contended in the nation’s preeminent trial competitions. Immediately prior to law school she was Chief of Staff at the former New Jersey Office of the Child Advocate.

She is from the small thumb town of Capac, Michigan and has called Detroit home since 2012.  In her free time Tiffany enjoys hanging out with her family and rescue dog, competitive sailing during the Michigan summers, and chasing adventures of all kinds, including a Mt. Kilimanjaro summit in 2018.

How we work

We have represented thousands of victims of investment fraud, against financial institutions that failed to discharge their duties and protect the investing public. Each case is different and our past successes are not indicative of future results; we will be glad to review your case and advise you as to your options, at no charge.

We generally represent investors on a “contingency fee” basis, meaning we do not charge any legal fees unless and until we recover money for you. Our general practice is to advance the case costs on the client’s behalf and recoup them out of (and up to) the amounts recovered. A few jurisdictions (states) require the client to be responsible for the case costs; whenever that is the case we explain to the client what those costs entail.
