Derrick Todd, a rheumatologist at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, became the object of an internal investigation after two anonymous complaints (from other physicians) regarding “Dr. Todd’s conduct of sensitive exams.”

In June, Derrick Todd was placed on administrative leave. “Brigham made the decision to terminate him at the conclusion of the internal investigation in July. Dr. Todd then reportedly resigned.”

In September, following a notification to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, Derrick Todd agreed to stop practicing medicine (in Massachusetts or any other state).

Derrick Todd Sexual Assault | What can survivors do?

Survivors of sexual assault face many challenges and consequences that can last for years. In situations like these, it is crucial to reach out to family and friends for support, as well as doctors and professionals who can help you through the recovery process. It is also paramount to hold the perpetrators accountable: sexual predators and the negligent institutions that failed to provide a safe environment, or did not respond appropriately upon being notified about the crime.

The legal process is an effective and therapeutic tool to facilitate the healing process for many survivors. It presents an opportunity to regain their power by holding the perpetrator, and other responsible parties, accountable.

FAQ

Yes. Please call us or use our contact form to request a Free Case Evaluation. We have a national team of attorneys and staff who look forward to speaking with you.

Typically, we represent clients on contingency fee agreements. If we take your case under a contingency fee arrangement, you won’t owe our firm any legal fees unless we are able to recover money for you.

Our contingency fee agreements are usually based on a percentage of the amount we recover for our clients. The contingency fee amount is determined by the type of case, our estimate of how long it will take to resolve your case, and our estimate of the litigation costs we will advance in your case. Each engagement agreement includes the details of the fee arrangement. Questions about our fee agreements are welcomed and encouraged.

In most litigation matters, it is extremely difficult – practically impossible – to predict how long it will take to resolve a particular case. Every case is different, and we will do our best to provide you with an estimate based on your case and our experience with similar cases. Moreover, we will do our best to keep you updated and manage expectations along the way.
