Erica Powell is an Associate in the firm’s New Orleans Office representing plaintiffs in institutional assault cases.
A Mobile, Alabama native, Erica attended Spring Hill College, where she earned a B.A. in History with a minor in Political Science. In 2022, she received her J.D. from Tulane Law School in New Orleans and became licensed in Louisiana. While in law school, she was a student attorney in the First Amendment Clinic, defending freedom of speech and press through direct client representation. Erica participated in the Tulane Moot Court Program as a member of the mock trial team, and served as co-coach of the Black Law Students Association mock trial team.
Erica’s legal career has included advising clients regarding consumer finance in private practice and advocating for indigent parents in New Orleans as a public defender. She credits this variance in experiences for her ability to holistically approach cases and legal issues.
Erica spends her free time pursuing her special interests in history and cultural heritage law. She relaxes by reading and putting together Lego sets. She also enjoys spending time with loved ones and Calista, her mischievous black cat.
